GENOA's core group decided to grant the first Dissemination Conference Grant within the grant period 1 (GP1) to Ancuta Fedorca to present GENOA at the International Wildlife Congress. The IWC serves as a platform for wildlife scientists, scholars, managers, and policymakers to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and explore technological advances. This setting directly supports the GENOA Action’s Science Communication Plan by providing an opportunity to present its work on integrating genetic diversity into biodiversity monitoring and management to a multidisciplinary and influential audience. The first Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC) Conference grant has been approved! GENOA's Young Researchers and Innovators (YRI) group decided to grant the ITC conference grant within grant period 1 (GP1) to Emina Šunje, PhD to attend European Herpetology Congress.  The ITC Conference Grant supports PhD students and Early Career Investigators (ECIs) in presenting their research at high-level conferences not organised or co-organised by GENOA COST action. The grant promotes visibility for GENOA, in line with COST’s Excellence and Inclusiveness Policy.

WG3 announces the call for Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) aiming to support progress in the work plan of WG3 through contribution to the subproject on Genetic diversity in “particular systems”, led by Roberta Gargiulo (r.gargiulo@kew.org) in view of achieving the WG3’s objectives, tasks and deliverables. The STSM Grant will focus on contributing to WG3’s sub-project on genetic diversity characterization and implications for applied conservation in “particular systems”. “Particular systems” refer to taxa with complex life history traits, e.g. polyploid, clonal, haplo-diplontic systems etc. and to taxa in which taxonomic boundaries are unclear, e.g. hybrids/hybrid zones. WG2 announces the call for Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) aiming to support progress in the work plan of WG2 through contribution to the subproject on the Ne/Nc ratio, led by Joachim Mergeay (joachim.mergeay@inbo.be) in view of achieving the WG2’s objectives, tasks and deliverables. The STSM Grant will focus on improving knowledge on the Ne/Nc ratio across species. The host country of this STSM will be Belgium (under the supervision of Dr. Joachim Mergeay).
